Go from feeling constantly worried and anxious about your pelvic health issues, to forgetting you even had them!
On your first visit to our clinic, we will take a full medical history and discuss with you your specific symptoms, problems and treatment goals.
With your consent, your physiotherapist will complete a physical assessment of the muscles, joints and tissues of the pelvic floor, hips and low back. This may include internal and external examinations to identify the affected tissues that may be contributing to your urinary, bowel or pelvic pain symptoms.
Your initial visit takes approximately 50 minutes and will provide plenty of time for questions to ensure you have a good understanding of your condition and your treatment plan.
If you live with any of the following problems, you may benefit from our pelvic floor program:
Pain in or around the pelvic region for more than three months.
Post-partum separation of your abdominal muscles that persists longer than 8 weeks after giving birth.
A compelling urge to urinate that may be difficult to control.
Leakage of urine with coughing, sneezing or jumping that cannot be controlled.
Persistent pain that has not resolved with other forms of treatment.
Having to urinate so frequently that your normal routine is affected.
The latest hands-on techniques to release trigger points, muscle tightness and joint stiffness in the low back, hips and pelvis that may be contributing to your problem.
An individualized exercise program may include breathing exercises, postural exercises, stretching, strengthening for the pelvic floor, core, low back and hips.
Biofeedback and breathing techniques help retrain weak, dysfunctional or tight pelvic floor muscles. You learn how to use the pelvic floor muscles more effectively, which can help improve incontinence and pain.
Knowledge is power! Understanding your condition helps you take control of your problem and is vital to your recovery.
This may include the use of heat, cold, trans-electrical nerve stimulation (TENS), guided imagery, breathing and relaxation techniques.

"...I'm quite happy with the treatment I've been getting......"
"Paula Wong has been a great help with my back problems; knock on wood, but I haven't had problems lately. She started with a thorough assessment, suggested different treatments, and explained them to my level. She is really patient to answer my many questions, and I have yet stump her. I'm quite happy with the treatment I've been getting. Also, working with the office staff has been smooth and pleasant! "

You may benefit from pelvic health physiotherapy if you are experiencing any of the following issues:
Tight pelvic floor muscles can be one of the common causes for painful intercourse. This tension can be from stress, your posture, previous birth(s) etc.
Leakage of urine while coughing, jumping or sneezing can often be associated with weak pelvic floor muscles.
Occurs when there is a dysfunction of the support of the pelvic floor. Pelvic health physiotherapists commonly treat and guide through treatment modalities.
This chronic pain, burning or pressure in the pelvic region can occur for a variety of reasons, including muscle tightness, joint dysfunctions and nerve sensitivity or entrapment in the pelvic floor region.
A frequent need to pee that disrupts your regular routine, or urge urinary incontinence, can be addressed by pelvic health physiotherapy.
Whether it’s about your overactive bladder or your bowel control, there’s a wide range of incontinence – it’s important to see a pelvic health physiotherapist for individualized assessment and treatment options.
